I want Kristen Bell. I want Anonymous Losers to stop stalking me. I'll settle for Kristen Bell, the stalkers never stop anyway!

Is He An Island is the first real "book" that I wrote in the sense that the characters were more removed from real people that I knew and more of their own. But at the same time, they lacked depth and generally seemed to serve more as plot points rather than having genuine character development.

This novel began as a NanoWrimo project, that is writing 50,000 words in November. I barely managed to do it by the end, and the last few chapters ended up being edited severely because they were rather poorly written just to get to 50,000 words by 11:59 PM on November 30.

The story does have a few "plot twists" that might actually be enjoyable to readers but I did not like them too much as the author... they are a bit contrived, added in because I realized I had gone through my entire plot and had only written 15,000 words and was thus only 30% done with the project as a whole.

I enjoy this one well enough but it's not one that I read through again too much. But I would say I feel more removed from this story than the ones I wrote before it because the characters actually are less like me than they used to be. Of course, the friendship dynamics on display are still similar to how I was with my friends but perhaps more exaggerated to have a good story to tell.

The basic premise of this story is that Jeremy decides to "live life online" and never interacts in real life anymore. The story was written in 2002-03 with "2016" being the year of the story when he manages to do so.

And theoretically it would be quite possible to do this today... with all those online ordering services you could avoid people if you wanted to. But some of the "predictions" I made in 2002 did not pan out. For one, I thought hydrogen cars would be on the road like the Prius is today... they are not.
